Farmers Paul and Emily Papadopoulos are new to lavender but not new to farming.  Emily grew up on the farm which has been in her family since 1793.   Lavender was first planted as a landscape plant, and the field was planted in 2019.  Both Intermedia and Angustifolia varieites are grown, including Munstead, Vera,Grosso, Gros Bleu, Super, Royal Velvet, Hidcote, Hidcote Giant, Thomas Riverina, Phenomenal, Sensational, Impress Purple, and Folgate.  The farm has lavender for a variety of uses: culinary, crafting, scent, and oils. Emily is a member of the United States Lavender Growers Association and Virginia Farm Bureau.
